Wealth and Material Things In Relation To Personal Happiness

A common misconception is that money and material things can help buy you happiness. One of life’s truth is that many times having wealth and buying that new material item will only offer an empty temporary boost in happiness. Soon afterwards, these temporary boosts of happiness often wear off. The trick for people that have extra income for buying non-necessity items is to only seek out material things that will truly bring happiness and love to your life and those around you. In short, the true value of the material item will depends on how you use it to make your life be the best it can be.

Material items for the wrong reasons:

To keep up with your friends, family, or neighbors. Who are you? Are you what you purchase? You need to be honest with yourself and be yourself. If you don’t know who you are you must seek to discover and be who you want to be.

For social status-

To be better than your friends, family, or neighbors. Envy is a deadly circle that is without true love for others or yourself.

Does having these expensive items cause you to miss out on the love and life you could have had were you not at your job as often?

Things To Watch Out For:

Savvy sales and marketing will help to sell the dream of a better than reality lifestyle. Be honest with yourself, do you really need it or are you being sold into it?

Product / Service feature up sells. The latest hot new features can be a great way for companies to get extra money from you for things you really don’t need. Again, be honest with yourself. Do you really need the extras or do you just think you do?

Extravagant items-

Bigger (and more expensive) is better (houses, vehicles, jewelry, etc).

Must Have List Of Foods That Lower Cholesterol

Cholesterol is present in our bodies by one of two ways; our liver produces cholesterol and we eat foods containing cholesterol. High amounts of cholesterol, especially LDL cholesterol that is bad for us, can lead to many health complications and significantly increase your risk of heart diseases.

While there are many foods that are high in LDL cholesterol, there are a lot, which can actually help to lower your LDL cholesterol levels and increase your HDL cholesterol or the good cholesterol. Here's a list of foods that lower cholesterol, which is a must have for anyone who is trying to reduce their LDL levels and increase their HDL levels.

Apples: Everyone has heard of the saying, "An apple a day keeps the doctor away". Well, apples are also very good for lowering your LDL cholesterol levels. 2 full apples, or 12 ounces of apple juice, if taken everyday, can reduce your risk of heart diseases by as much as 50%.

Garlic: Garlic helps to lower LDL cholesterol and thins your blood naturally. This prevents clogging up of arteries and thus lowers your risk of heart diseases.

Onions: Eating just half a raw onion everyday can increase your HDL levels by 25% and lower your LDL as well.

Beans and Legumes: These contain soluble fiber which helps to increase your HDL cholesterol and reduce your LDL cholesterol. All kinds of beans and legumes such as pinto, kidney, black-eyed, lentils, pink beans, etc are good for your heart.

Unsaturated Fats: Contrary to the misconception that all kinds of fat are bad for you, unsaturated fats and omega 3 fatty acids can actually be good for your heart. Monounsaturated fats (olive oil, canola, peanut, and almond oil) and polyunsaturated fats (corn oil, soybean oil, sunflower oil etc) increase the HDL cholesterol and lower the LDL cholesterol and are thus good for your heart.

Other Cholesterol Lowering Foods: Oats, fenugreek, artichokes, turmeric, guggul, green tea, nuts, and black tea, are all known to lower LDL cholesterol in your body.

Of course, diet is no substitute for a doctor’s care when you are ill. Diet and nutrition represent "the other side of the coin" and always inform your doctor whenever you make a dietary change, especially if you are on a pharmaceutical drug.

Making Noni juice is a time honored tradition in the Pacific islands. Noni Juice is an amazing product that contributes to your overall well-being. As Noni Juice is slightly bitter in taste, some people may prefer Noni capsules.

What Does God Think Of Rich People?

What does God think of rich people? You and I know what many people say about rich people. You've probably heard phrases like "filthy rich," "stinking rich," or "greedy rich people," attributed to those who are wealthy.

For some, it seems that there is an underlying belief that being rich is wrong, and yet, most people wouldn't mind it at all if an extra zero or two, or three, were added to the end of their bank account balance.

Some people assume that those who are rich got their wealth dishonestly, or never had to work for it. Some see the rich as snobs who look down upon the rest of the world. It is rare to find someone who is actually glad that someone else has tremendous wealth!

Many people think that rich people don't deserve to be rich, in other words, it's wrong to be rich. It's just not fair for people to have all that money! There are some religious people who actually think that being rich is not right in the sight of God.

But what does the Bible say? Often misquoted, the Bible does not say that money is the root of all evil; rather, it says that the love of money is the root of all evil. That means that you could have a dollar and love it, or, you could have a million dollars and not love a dime of it.

When you take a minute to stop and think, there are a number of great people mentioned in the Bible who were very rich. Job was the greatest man in the East. He lost everything and God restored double back to him! If he had so much wealth, and then lost everything, isn't it interesting that God gave him back double of what he lost. God did that for Job.

In the Bible, Abraham is called the friend of God and the father of all them that believe. Abraham was very rich in cattle, silver and gold. How about David or Solomon? The list goes on and on.

When Jesus died, it was Joseph of Arimathea, a rich man, who took care of the burial. He had a wonderful heart for God. He had the means to do what he did.

It may seem quite easy to argue that those mentioned above were special people with special reasons for having riches, or that they were a rare exception. There are some who believe that those who are wealthy are just "meant to be" wealthy. But If that is true, why are there so many promises of prosperity in the Bible?

Nothing in the Scriptures even remotely hints that God chooses who is going to be wealthy and who is going to be poor, and the rest are just supposed to exist somewhere in the middle. If that were really true, then so many promises of help, blessings and prosperity wouldn't be so prevalent.

A number of years ago, "The Prayer of Jabez" was very popular. All the items that were associated with it were basically derived from one verse in the Bible: I Chronicles 4:10. If you read that verse, you'll find that Jabez simply asked God to bless him, to enlarge his coast, to be with him, and to keep him from evil.

God granted Jabez what he requested! God didn't say what most people would have said: "Hey there, Jabez, you're getting greedy. Why don't you just be satisfied with what you have?" No. God gave him what he requested.

Over the past ten years or so, a number of preachers have been labeled "prosperity preachers." Some of those have preached an honest message of God's abundance, while others have polluted the message with something short of a circus act.

Biblically, prosperity simply means that you are successful at what you are endeavoring to do. Only you can define prosperity for yourself. It may involve a lot of money and it may not. But God plainly states in the Bible that He wishes above all things that we prosper and be in health.

Wealth can be obtained honestly or dishonesty - ethically or unethically. But far too many people too quickly judge those who are wealthy and successful. I personally know a number of Christians who are millionaires, and they are very loving and giving people.

I think it is a shame that a lot of wonderful, successful Christians, are being unfairly judged and condemned by their brothers and sisters in Christ, because of the blessings they have received from God. They work hard, apply effective principles, expect God's blessings, and receive from Him abundantly.

So, what does God think of rich people? Is God displeased with the wealthy? Does He want everyone to be poor? No. God desires, above all things, for all His children to prosper and to be in health. Prosperity is a blessing from God that is available to all.

Curing Migraine and Headaches the Natural Way!

Is your headache killing you?

Or is your migraine draining the life out of you?

How would you like to permanently get rid of pain in a totally natural way?

• No drug or medicine!
• No doctor’s visits or operations!
• No herbal medicine!

How about doing it by only changing few simple habits.

Let me explain …

Actually, first let me tell you something about headaches and migraine.

Opposite to what you have probably heard, all headaches are actually a form of migraine. Headaches and migraine are caused by the same things and therefore the same methods will apply getting rid of “regular headaches” as permanently curing your migraine.

So what causes headaches and migraine?

It may sound complicated but is in fact very simple.

All migraine and headache attacks are triggered by something. There are literally thousands of headache and migraine triggers in your life causing you to get sick.

The migraine triggers can be…

• The food you eat
• Stress or other tense emotions
• Pollution around you
• Or endless other things in your life

The triggers are so many; there is NO WAY to avoid them all.

But here comes the tricky part…

The triggers add up.

And it’s not until they reach sudden level of intensity that you’re hit with a horrible migraine attack.

Think about it like an irritating day. Everything is going against you. Everybody seems to be getting on your nerves, either on purpose or not.

As this irritating day goes on, you get more and more frustrated.

But you don’t say anything. You keep your calm, even if you’re bursting up inside.

Now, in the end of the day all you can think about is getting home and away from everyone. To RELAX!

You didn’t blow off, you didn’t offend anybody and you can be proud of your self for that. But now, you want to be able to relax.

But as you walk up to your house, you cross your neighbor. And he says something very innocent, which normally would only give you slightest irritation (if that)

… but today, you let him have it. You tell him and his whole family to go to … you know where.

Your triggers finally set you over the limit!

Your migraine triggers work the same way.

One day a stressful situation will give you beaming headache and the next day, it won’t.

Today, you may be able to eat a whole chocolate cake but tomorrow, if other triggers are active, one bite of chocolate may cause you screaming pain.

It all depends on how high your migraine level is.

Just like when one small accident sets you off on a stressful day, a minor migraine trigger may set you off when other bigger are already working in your life.

So what’s going on if you’ve headache on daily basis?

It’s quite simple …

Then, you’re loaded with BIG migraine triggers every day. And these triggers will literally kill you if you don’t deal with them.

It’s like having someone nagging at you day out and day in; of course you’re always going to be irritated. The same thing happens if you’ve migraine triggers nagging at you day in and day out.

…you’re going to have constant headache!

The only way out is to decrease the migraine triggers in your life to a level, so they won’t set you off into a horrible migraine or headache attack.

And here is the nice part!

Like I said before, there are literally thousands of migraine triggers in your life. Some are big and some are small. But the good news is; you don’t have to get rid of them all!

You only have to get rid of or at least lower the influence of the MAJOR triggers in your life. And you’ll never suffer from migraine again.

Let’s compare this to the irritated day…

The two MAJOR irritation triggers may have been an unfair boss and maybe lets say rude telemarketer calling over and over again.

If it hadn’t been for these two MAJOR triggers, the rainy weather, the dry soda machine and the small words from the neighbor wouldn’t have gotten you frustrated.

In the same way, by getting rid of the MAJOR migraine triggers, other triggers won’t be able to reach enough tension to set you off in to a horrible migraine attack.

Are Affiliates in Demand? How To Make Money Online

Is there a need for affiliate marketers these days? Of course, there is a gigantic demand. One of the problems faced in the industry is that it occasionally sounds too good to be true: Advertising that's guaranteed to be successful or it's free! Newcomers wonder if it's achievable, and sceptics state that the cost effective prices of A.M. decrease the bar for online advertising. But there is a great rationale that A.M. has experienced steady growth all the way through the ups and downs of online advertisingit succeeds. And A.M. has evolved to develop into a dependable source of sales for an extensive range of marketers.

Affiliate marketing has evolved from the experimental years when a few touted it as the potential of online advertising, and others claimed it was the demise of the medium. It's currently a sophisticated channel that creates anywhere from 5% to 25% of online sales for many of the world's well known brands.

Almost all main multi-channel marketers have an affiliate program of some kind. The essential issue to remember is that affiliate programs currently appear in all shapes and sizes. The perception of a wide-open affiliate program with a boundless and unrestrained amount of affiliates is a thing of the past. Virtually all marketers approve that affiliates add significance to an online marketing effort, but the program should be tailored to meet the marketer's objectives.

Affiliate marketing did not bring a finish to other, higher priced forms of online media advertising. The triumph of the A.M in delivering sales cost effectively by way of a pay-for-performance model covered the way for other forms of performance-based advertising, such as CPA-based search and portal advertising, to create acceptance amongst direct marketers. Affiliate marketing has evolved, with affiliates and marketers becoming more sophisticated and programs more integrated with other forms of online marketing.

Why not take a look at how to use Affiliate Marketing to you own advantage. Click the link below to see what else you can do.

Diabetes Can Be Deadly - Know What To Do

(NC)-Food is your body's fuel to provide energy to enjoy an active lifestyle. Healthy bodies produce insulin to convert sugar in the blood into energy. For people with diabetes, the body does not produce sufficient insulin and sugar builds up instead of becoming energy. Diabetics have to be careful with diet and exercise and may take insulin regularly to control their condition.

Sometimes a person with diabetes can have a medical emergency from an insulin imbalance. Insulin shock happens when a diabetic needs sugar. This condition escalates rapidly and can be caused by taking too much insulin, a lack of food or too much exercise.

Symptoms of insulin shock

  • Pulse and breathing are rapid and shallow.
  • Skin is sweaty, pale and cold.
  • The casualty is disoriented, irritable or aggressive.
  • The person may stagger, tremble or have difficulty speaking.

First aid for diabetic emergencies

Knowing what to do in a diabetic crisis can save a life.

  • Assess the individual and send for medical help.
  • Place an unconscious casualty in the recovery position and monitor pulse and breathing.
  • If a conscious casualty can tell you what they need, assist them to find and take their medication.
  • If the person is too confused to understand what is needed, give them something sweet to eat or drink - sugar may help.

St. John Ambulance has training courses to help you to learn to save a life. For more information, see the office in your area or check us out online at www.sja.ca.

The Basic First Aid for Child Care Programs

We cannot help but accept the fact that children do get into trouble and sometimes emergencies when they are left in childcare programs. We just have to pray that most injuries sustained are minor such as cuts, scrapes, bruises, among others.

But when serious injuries and emergencies do happen, caregivers and childcare program administrators should have the proper and basic planning and first aid needed in times such as these.

A safer and well maintained establishment and facility. As most injuries and emergencies may be prevented, it is a must that a childcare program should be able to create and maintain safer play areas, establish safety rules, and properly supervise the children. Administrators and caregivers should be able to cope with minor injuries, as well as less common but serious emergencies which sometimes involve the head, broken bones, knocked-out teeth, poisoning, burns, choking, etc. Preparing for these kinds of emergencies will help caregivers to respond appropriately and make the children stay calm and even provide aid in the care of the injured child.

Basic First Aid and available emergency help should be at hand. One of the first steps to take during times of potentially serious injuries and emergencies would be to call for emergency help. If you are located in the urban areas, it is easy to get emergency help. Qualified emergency personnel can arrive in just a matter of minutes in your location. But not so in rural areas. Hence, it is important for caregivers to have training on life-threatening emergencies. A childcare facility should at least have one trained caregiver available to provide intensive first aid while waiting for help to arrive.

For minor injuries, basic first aid and a dose of tender care would suffice while waiting for a parent or guardian to arrive.

A well-stocked, accessible first aid kit should be provided. The following are some of the appropriate medical supplies that a basic first aid kit should have, as advised by an emergency personnel:

  • Disposable non-porous, latex-free gloves for hand protection from blood and body fluids;
  • Tweezers for removing splinters;
  • Adhesive bandages;
  • Scissors for cutting tapes and dressings;
  • Bandage tape for gauze pads;
  • Sterile gauze pads for cleaning and covering wounds;
  • Flexible rolled gauze to hold a gauze pad in place;
  • Eye dressings;
  • Inset sting preparation; and
  • Thermometer.

For other non medical supply materials, a first aid kit is also best to have a pencil or pen and notepad for writing down information and instructions; coins to use in a pay phone during a field trip; emergency telephone numbers such as the poison control center, paramedics, etc.; first aid guides; plastic zipper bags; and plastic trash bags for disposal of contaminated supplies.

In every situation, the best rule of thumb is to always be prepared. As the adage would say, an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.

Health News - America is Dehydrated

People are Financially Divided into Four Groups

According to Robert Kiyosaki, author of the worldwide bestselling Rich Dad Poor Dad book, people are financially divided into four groups. The first two groups are classified as active income people. They are called active because they have to exchange time for money. If they stop working, they stop earning money. Active income people include:

1. The employed - Employees work for a system (a business, a government, whatever). This is not a favorable setup for wealth accumulation and financial liberty.

2. The self-employed - Self-employed people are a system. If they stop, there is no system left to work on its own. They, like the employed, must work, must exchange their time for money, otherwise, they are not paid. This is also not a favorable setup for wealth accumulation and financial liberty, although it does have the added benefit of allowing for greater financial growth than being employed.

The next two groups are where you usually find the rich and wealthy, and more importantly, the ones who have both financial and time liberty. These are the favorable setups for wealth accumulation and financial liberty and this is where you need to move to. These are called passive income earners. They are called passive because they do not have to exchange time for money. In other words, they have both financial and time liberty. Passive income people include:

3. The business owner - she or he owns a system but does not work in it. A business owner has set up a business in such a way that it is a system that can be run by anybody (just like a McDonald's franchise). They then hire workers to plug into the system, work for them, and bring them money.

4. The investor - she or he invests in a system but does not work in it. An investor has investments in systems that work for them and make them money.

Do you see the key difference between these two groups, the active and the passive earners? The people in the first group have to exchange time for money. If they do not give up their time, they are not paid. The people in the second group do not have to do that. They may initially need to spend time setting up the system, but once it is built, they no longer have to exchange their time for money. They take back control of their time and this enables them to live life as they wish. The system works for them and brings them money even while they sleep! How good is that?

The system is the solution. It allows for predictable, good results and frees up your time so that you can do other things that you enjoy or even start other businesses (because you have the free time to do so)!

So the question is, how can you move quickly from the active to the passive camp? Well, there are several ways, but the most affordable, yet most overlooked, is network marketing. T. Harv Eker, multi-millionaire and author of the best-selling Secrets of the Millionaire Mind, says this about network marketing in his book:

"...network marketing can be a dynamite vehicle for wealth. But, and this is a big but, don't think for a minute that you are going to get a free ride. Network marketing will only work if you do. It will take training, time and energy to succeed. But if you do, incomes in the range of $20,000 to $50,000 per month - that's right, per month - are not uncommon."

Have a look at what Robert Kiyosaki has to say about network marketing. He says it is a great asset-producing vehicle, one that allows you, unlike other businesses, to create assets that create more assets that create more assets that create more assets.... In other words, you recruit representatives (assets that add money to your pocket), who in turn recruit their own reps (more assets that add money to your pocket), who in turn recruit their own reps (more assets that add money to your pocket)...

So what makes network marketing so good when done in the right industry and with the right company? Well, other businesses grow linearly while network marketing grows exponentially (rapidly becoming greater in size)! Do you need another reason?

Reduce Your Cholesterol With Natural Vitamins

Because of the great efforts of the American Heart Association and other similar organizations, we have gained a lot of knowledge on cholesterol and its effects on our health. We know that high cholesterol levels increase our risk for heart attacks and strokes. We also know that lowering our cholesterol levels will reduce this risk and keep our hearts and blood vessels healthy. Additionally, we know that diet, weight loss, and exercise can help us lower our cholesterol levels. Prescription drugs that lower cholesterol have recently become available and advertised by pharmaceutical companies. However, these medications have some serious side effects including myopathy, reduction in CoQ10 levels, which can lead to heart disease, and rhabdomyaolysis, a rare, but fatal condition. Fortunately, there is a safe alternative to these prescription medications, pantethine and plant sterols, which are also known as phytosterols, are nature’s solution to high cholesterol levels.

Cholesterol, a soft, waxy, fat-like substance, is found in every cell of the body. It is needed to help digest fats, strengthen cell membranes, insulate nerves, and make hormones. Made primarily by the liver, our body makes all the cholesterol that we actually need, but we also get additional cholesterol from the foods that we eat. The highest sources of cholesterol are egg yolks and organ meats including liver and kidney. Peanut butter, avocado, and all other plant-derived foods contain no cholesterol. However, all foods from animal sources do contain cholesterol. Even though cholesterol is responsible for many important functions in the body, too much cholesterol in the bloodstream can be very dangerous. Once blood cholesterol has reached high levels, it builds up on artery walls, and therefore increases the risk of blood clots, heart attack, and stroke. Because the heart is a muscle, it needs a constant supply of oxygen and nutrients. The bloodstream, which transports these nutrients to the heart through coronary arteries, cannot transport the oxygen if the arteries become narrowed or clogged by cholesterol and fat deposits. Depending on the severity, this can result in coronary heart disease, angina, or heart attack.

Because cholesterol and other fats can’t dissolve in the blood, they can’t travel on their own. Instead, they are transported to and from cells by special carriers called lipoproteins. There are two major lipoproteins: low density lipoproteins (LDL) or “bad” cholesterol, and high density lipoproteins (HDL) or “good” cholesterol. LDLs cause atherosclerosis because they clog up our arteries with the continual buildup of fat. On the other hand, HDL prevents fat buildup by carrying it away from the arteries to the liver, where it can be processed and eliminated.

Triglycerides, which are fats used as fuel by the body, can make the blood more sluggish and less capable of transporting oxygen when in high amounts. There are many medications prescribed by physicians for people with elevated triglyceride levels. Some of the most effective, and most harmful, are the statins. The all-natural combination of pantethine and plant sterols can safely lower triglycerides and LDL cholesterol levels, while increasing HDL cholesterol.

Pantethine, which is a form of pantothenic acid that is found in liver, salmon, and yeast, is known for its ability to lower cholesterol by blocking its production. The production of cholesterol in the human body is a very complex process, involving many biochemical reactions and enzyme activity. Pantethine inhibits several of these enzymes, blocking the activity of those coenzymes involved in cholesterol synthesis by about 50%. To compensate for the lowered cholesterol production, the liver pulls LDL out of the bloodstream, resulting in a lower total cholesterol level.

Plant sterols, which are the fats of plants, are found in nuts, vegetable oils, corn, and rice. They are structurally very similar to cholesterol and are therefore able to act as a stand in for cholesterol and block its absorption, causing it to be eventually excreted. If we eat enough plant sterols, the amount of cholesterol transported from the intestinal tract to the liver is greatly reduced. And, just like pantethine’s effect on the liver, this cholesterol reduction causes the liver to pull LDL cholesterol out of the blood, which reduces both total and LDL cholesterol levels.

Because the plant sterol and pantethine found in food just aren’t enough to have much of an effect on our health, we need to take a concentrated combination of pantethine and plant sterols in just the right ratio. Plant sterols, which are bound in fibers in the plants, can not be adequately consumed even if we ate lots of raw fruits and vegetables. There are also several forms of plant sterols, with some ratios of these plant sterols being more beneficial than others. While pantethine is found in several food sources, it is hard to get beneficial amounts from our food. Manufacturers of high quality nutritional supplements offer pantethine and plant sterols in the most beneficial ratio, proven by research. The best results are found when taking a combination of 400 mg of plant sterols and 200 mg of pantethine three times a day. Recent studies have shown that lowering cholesterol in people without heart disease can greatly reduce their risk for ever developing CHD, along with heart attacks and atherosclerosis. This is also true for those with high cholesterol levels and for those with average cholesterol levels. Most physicians would never consider prescribing statin drugs to people without actual heart disease or high cholesterol levels because of the many health risks of the drugs. However, the combination of pantethine and plant sterols are very effective in helping those people with heart disease, high cholesterol levels, high triglyceride levels, as well as those just wanting the extra health insurance for their hearts. Pantethine and plant sterols are both very safe. Although some people may experience a mild upset stomach when first taking pantethine, taking the combination of pantethine and plant sterols with meals can usually solve this problem. Pantethine and plant sterols are available at your local or internet vitamin store.

A Simple Idea from a Billionaire

It’s simple and powerful.

The philosophy of successful people is often easy to understand.

The more I look at how successful people got that way, the more I realize how straightforward they think.

For example, consider these comments from Mark Cuban, billionaire, mercurial owner of the Dallas Mavericks, and star of the reality TV series “The Benefactor.”

When asked the key to recognizing opportunity, he sites doing one’s homework as the most important factor.

“The hard part is doing the homework to know if the idea could work in an industry,” he says. “Then doing the preparation to be able to execute on the idea.”

He admits that he does not have original ideas. He combines existing ideas in unique ways that no one else is doing.

Of course, he knows no one else is doing it because he has thoroughly studied his industry.

He says that the characteristics of an entrepreneur are willingness to learn, focus, ability to absorb information, and no illusions about competitors’ desire to overtake you.

Cuban says that when he set the goal to retire at 35, he studied everything he could find about business and the industries that interested him. He actually considered any job as a paid opportunity to learn more about a business.

He advises young entrepreneurs to learn as much about their businesses as possible and never take shortcuts.

Over and over again, he emphasizes homework, superior knowledge, the drive to learn, and the need to get to work.

Nothing complicated in this philosophy, is there?

Anyone could adopt his ideas and do well at anything.

Regardless of your dream, if you do your homework, you greatly enhance your odds of success.

Do yourself a favor. Do your homework.

It’s simple and insures success.

And you can be your own benefactor.

It's Your Life So Make the Most Of It

One of the most important ingredients in your personal development is taking real responsibility for your actions. This requires that you consciously become the cause of the results that you want. Refuse to behave like a victim... or to wait for someone to save you from life's problems.

Keys to Self-responsibility

To reach your full potential, you need to take responsibility for your actions in meaningful ways...

Consciousness. You have a choice -- you can pay attention and be fully present when you are making critical decisions, such as working on a project, reading your performance review or deciding whether to have another drink. Or you can be physically present but mentally absent during these activities. Either way, you are responsible for the level of consciousness you bring to any occasion -- and you are responsible for the results.

Decisions and actions. It is tempting to "disconnect" from our choices -- to insist that someone or something is driving us to behave the way we do. Other people don't make you talk or act in certain ways. You are responsible for how you speak and listen... whether you act rationally or not... whether you treat others fairly or unfairly... whether you keep your promises or break them. Once you recognize that you are the source of your own decisions and actions, you are far more likely to proceed wisely -- and to act in ways that will not cause embarrassment or regret later.

Fulfillment of desires. A major cause of unhappiness or frustration is imagining that someone will come along to "rescue" you -- to solve your problems and fulfill your wishes. A self-responsible person recognizes that no one is coming to make life right or to "fix" things. You acknowledge that nothing will get better unless you do something to make it happen.

Beliefs and values. Many people are happy to reflect passively what others believe and value. Or they assume that their ideas arise naturally out of their feelings -- by instinct. Self-responsible people work to become aware of their beliefs and values... to critically scrutinize them... to seek out people who see things differently... and then to make up their own minds.

Setting priorities. The way we spend time and energy is either in sync with our values or out of sync with what we claim is important. If you understand that the way you prioritize your time is your own choice, you are more likely to correct the contradictions. Instead of being overwhelmed or neglecting people and activities that are important to you, you reexamine your values or set priorities that make more sense.

Choice of companions. You can blame and resent others when they repeatedly hurt or disappoint you. You can feel sorry for yourself. Or you can recognize your responsibility for choosing with whom you spend time... and make different choices.

Actions in response to feelings and emotions. When you're angry, you have the urge to lash out. When you're hurt, you may feel like sulking. When you're impatient, you may want to drive too fast. But you don't have to act on every feeling or urge. When you accept responsibility for the actions you take, you act more thoughtfully... less impulsively... and with better results.

Happiness. If you believe your happiness is primarily in your own hands, you give yourself enormous power. You don't wait for events or other people to make you happy. If something is wrong, your response is not, "Someone's got to do something!" but "What can I do?"

One's own life and well being. In taking responsibility for your life, you will recognize other people's rights to do the same. Other people do not exist as means to your ends, any more than you live in service to their goals. People may choose to help me another -- voluntarily. Life is usually more pleasant when they do so. But no one is born with a right to other people's assets or energy -- despite the attitude of entitlement that is so prevalent today.

Learning self-responsibility. You can become more responsible by asking yourself two powerful questions several times a day...

What possibilities for action exist?

What can I do? Instead of just saying, "I want...," try asking yourself, "What am I willing to do to get what I want?" To become more aware of whether you are acting responsibly, ask yourself, If I wanted to be fully self-responsible right now, what would I be doing?

Try this exercise: Every morning for one week, write six to 10 endings to each of the following sentences...

If I operate a little more self-responsibly today, I will...

If I am 5% more self-responsible in my relationships, I will...

If I accept responsibility for my choices and decisions, I will... Don't worry about what you should say. Just write the first words that come to mind. Over the weekend, reread the week's sentences. Then write six to 10 endings for this sentence...

If any of what I wrote this week is true, it might be helpful if I... Done consistently, this exercise helps to shift your mental focus. Changes are often quick -- and dramatic.

How to Treat Painful Feet: Incorporating Healthy Foot Soaks

For those who spend a lot of time standing or walking, painful feet may become an unfortunate reality. Taking time to treat painful feet can help soothe the aches and pains, and may help prevent more serious conditions. A healthy soak for feet designed to help increase circulation, promote muscle relaxation, and soften the skin, can help make feet feel better both inside and out. However, chronic pain should be reported to a doctor or podiatrist, and those with diabetes in particular should consult with a physician before using any type of product or method to treat painful feet. Swollen feet, for example, are normal in hot and humid weather, but can also be a sign of a serious medical condition. As with any physical condition, it is wise to seek the advice of a physician or podiatrist if painful conditions such as swelling, muscle cramps, or others continue for more than a few days.

Some conditions may be treated easily with a foot ache soak followed by foot lotion. Calluses and corns are two such examples. Calluses are a build-up of thick skin that develops over time, most often on the heels. As our bodies age, the padding in the feet becomes thinner and the development of calluses is one way the body adapts to this change. Other areas of the foot may also develop calluses, such as the ball of the foot. Because calluses can signal other, more serious foot problems, it is wise to seek the assistance of a podiatrist to treat painful feet. A doctor is also the best person to remove very thick and/or painful calluses. For a minor callus buildup, a healthy soak for feet can be used to soften the skin, which can then be gently removed using a pumice stone or similar product. This treatment, followed by a revitalizing foot lotion can help relieve and treat painful feet. Inserting padding in the shoes at the point of the callus can also aid in reducing foot pain.

Corns are one of the more common foot ailments, and tend to show up most often in people under thirty and in women. This is likely because of the shoe styles worn, which can put pressure on the toes. Corns are small, concentrated calluses that usually develop around the toes where friction occurs most, such as the tops, around joints, and in between. To treat painful feet resulting from corns and to help prevent corns from developing, use a foot ache soak on a daily basis. Following the foot soak, corns can be gently removed using a pumice stone, followed by a foot lotion. This easy, preventative program, combined with shoes that do not pinch the toes and special pads over the corns, is an effective method to treat painful feet. It is also a nice, relaxing way to end the day.

For general foot aches and pains, a healthy foot ache soak combining a range of treatment components can aid in the reduction of normal swelling, help reduce muscle fatigue, lessen muscle soreness, and rejuvenate the feet. Products that incorporate various botanicals, for example, can create a foot soak that positively affect both mind and body and treat painful feet. Research shows that scents have a direct impact on our thoughts and emotions, and the use of botanicals in a foot soak offers both mental and physical benefits. Botanicals have long been used in combination with massage therapy to promote feelings of well-being, promote health, and as therapeutic tools. The same concepts apply when using botanicals in combination with a soak to treat painful feet. Foot soaks can also be useful in the treatment and prevention of other conditions such as athletes foot and in promoting overall foot health.

Peppermint, for example, is useful in clearing the mind and emotions (which can be very welcome after a long day on the job), relieves muscle aches, and is often used to treat painful feet. Combinations of lavender, rosemary, and juniper, are used to relive pain and in sports medicine. Other blends, such as peppermint, rosemary, and geranium are used not only to treat pain but also to uplift and strengthen.

For a relaxing foot soak, use cool or warm water and soak your feet for about fifteen minutes. Pat the feet dry rather than rubbing them with a towel (although a rough towel can be in replace of a pumice stone for mild calluses or corns). When feet are dry, apply a foot lotion.

The Secrets of Fat Loss and Super Health Revealed. 1/3

The Wealthy Mindset

What is the difference between wealthy people and poor (even average) people? It is not all the money that wealthy people have and the average don’t, nor the luxury, nor the lifestyle. It is their mindset.

A few lucky people have won a lot of money and become wealthy overnight but in short time many of them have returned to their prior financial condition too soon. There is no trace of all the riches they have once won. Very few of them can stay wealthy long enough to actually improve their quality of life.

Why? Because it is not the money and the luxurious lifestyle that make people wealthy. It is their mindset.

Real wealthy people act differently upon the big cash they can get their hands on and upon everything else pertaining money and possession. And this is because they think differently from most average people in the first place.

Let’s think this through and discuss the way average people think…

As soon as they can get their hands on a big fat check, average people would almost immediately go shopping. Buy the latest model car, luxurious home, or spend it on renovation, once-in-a-lifetime luxurious vacation… blah blah blah.

They think that in order to really become wealthy, they have to possess all the stuff that wealthy people would have, travel to places wealthy people would go to, drive the cars wealthy people would drive or live in big mansions where wealthy people would live.

Real wealthy people can afford all the above simply because they have higher purchasing power. Most of us, on the other hand, would think that by having all those above we just might be considered as ‘wealthy’. We tend to think that to become wealthy we have to ‘act’ or ‘live’ like those who in reality are.

Ironically, the fact is to become wealthy we have to ‘think’ like real wealthy people.

Once again I must say that it’s the mindset that makes people wealthy. It’s neither their possessions nor what they spend their money on.

Most of us go shopping while holding on to this principle: Buy now, struggle later.

When wealthy people go shopping they think: Delay it now, invest the money, and have all you want later on! They embrace delayed gratification.

Generally, too soon, the average people would end up in debt due to their principles of immediate gratification. And in most cases their debt worsens. Car loans, furniture loans, education loans, home loans, credit cards… and who knows what else.

As the story continuous, I believe, it becomes more and more familiar to the vast majority: In order to pay off all the debts, they become slaves of their own jobs after they realised that they had been “slaves of their own debt” for some time.

To them, a job becomes a necessity as opposed to a choice. It is chosen based on how big the salary is to pay off their debt, instead of on the satisfaction the job provides.

Can these people retire early? No. In fact, they wouldn’t even dare to think about it! They are too deep in debt to quit and to just come and go almost at will.

On the other hand, not only do the wealthy know the negatives of being in a debt, they also know precisely the advantages of being debt-free. By being debt-free, they have more money to save.

The more money wealthy people have, the more they can invest in their own businesses. Exactly these businesses are their assets that generate life-long passive income for them. True wealthy people have known

for decades that having traditional jobs would NEVER make them rich. It would make their bosses rich for sure but there is no way acquiring real wealth merely by trading time for money.

Can business owners retire early? Yes. Having your own business means having passive income for life (more likely even longer than that). If you work consistently on growing your business, you will come to a point where your passive income exceeds your daily living cost.

If this happens, you can choose when to work, where to work or what. Your choice of jobs will not be limited by how much money they provide. Moreover, a job for you would be more of a choice than a necessity. Even if you chose not to work, you would still have money coming in from your business.

This is what real freedom is and this is exactly how wealthy people think!

Ironically, I have met some people who sneer at the idea of investing in a business. For some reason they think that people who are interested in investing must be so much in love with money, or even slaves of it.

Most average people think that business owners must have become wealthy by the drive of their greedy, selfish minds. They tend to think that business owners must be slaves to their money and riches that they could actually have riches so abundantly now.

The truth is their mindset is exactly the opposite.

Exactly because of UNSELFISH reasons, business owners set up their businesses in the first place.

By having their own businesses which generate passive income for them, they have quality time to spend with their loved ones.

They are not too busy to go to their daughter’s first dance recital or to show up at his son’s birthday party.

They are not too busy to spend a one-week holiday with their spouse. They are not too busy (nor too broke) to be involved in voluntary social work.

The average traditional worker, on the other hand, would not be able to just go and have a holiday anytime he pleases. He has a too tight schedule to come to his daughter’s dance recital or his son’s 6th birthday party. And, hey, he’s too busy (and too broke) to do voluntary social work! He needs jobs that pay well and social works just won’t do.

Well, who is the selfish one now?

Most importantly, because the businesses wealthy people own generate passive income not only throughout their lives but also throughout the lives of their children and grandchildren, business owners prove themselves even more UNSELFISH than the average people do.

People with typical jobs will either retire broke or die poor, leaving their families with nothing (if not with their remaining debt).

By having the right mindset, you will not only be able to have abundant riches, but also a great chance to live abundantly: do all the things that provide satisfaction, spend quality time with you family and friends, and have all the time and money to voluntarily help other people and make your part of the world a better place to live.

Above all, having the right mindset will give you a chance to care and provide for your family even after you leave this planet.

Are you ready to adopt the wealthy mindset?

Women and Money: 3 Secrets for Building Serious Wealth

Long Term Care Insurance: Security for Americans

Health Care Crisis in America

A health care crisis is looming on the horizon for many Americans, one that could bring financial and emotional devastation that would make zooming gas prices and bouncing stock markets pale in comparison.

The problem? According to Metlife, 70% of people over the age of 65 will need some form of extended care before they die, whether it's a visiting nurse in the home or full-time nursing home care. According to The Alliance for Aging, "nearly 9 out of 10 Americans will have at least one chronic condition" by age 65. Thanks to modern medicine, these conditions are debilitating, but not immediately fatal. Most seniors express concern about paying for necessary care in the face of such a condition, but few do anything about it.

Laura Moore, senior vice president for long term care insurance at John Hancock, says the issue is "increasingly important because Americans are living longer, care costs are rising, and company pensions are being cut back." Moore says that Americans are "not facing the reality of what lies ahead."

If you need extended care, but are unable to pay for it, the burden will fall to your families. The emotional, physical, and financial drain of caring for a sick parent is so traumatic that, according to the American Alzheimer's Foundation, 60% of family care givers die before the person they are caring for! Furthermore, if you are placed in a nursing home without the funds to pay the bill, you risk not only your life long savings, but also the family home and even your life insurance.

Understanding Long Term Care

Long term or extended care refers to care that is needed beyond the time period covered by Medicare or major medical insurance. It is often provided in a nursing home, but can also be provided in a person's home or in an assisted living facility.

The cost of assisted living, nursing home care and professional home health care is high and climbing yearly. A 2003 study conducted by Metropolitan Life Insurance found the average rate to be $180 per day or $66,000 per year for a private room in a nursing home. Care in an assisted living facility averages $30,288 a year while professional home care would cost $166,440 a year for round the clock care at $19.00 per hour. Due to inflation, by 2021, nursing homes may cost as much as $175,000 per year.

There are three solutions to surviving these high costs of extended care. You can be rich enough to pay all costs yourself, engage in a spend down to exhaust your assets and qualify for Medicaid, or you can purchase Long Term Care insurance (LTCi).

Long Term Care Insurance

LTCi is an insurance program that pays for extended care when Medicare and private major medical is exhausted, or for intermediate or custodial care which are not covered by Medicare or major medical at all. The most comprehensive programs cover home care, assisted living, and nursing homes. Simpler plans provide home care only and are also less expensive.

The care usually involves assistance with daily activities such as eating, dressing, walking, bathing, moving from bed to chair (called transferring) and using the toilet, or, in the case of cognitive impairment, simply sitting with a person to prevent him from danger to himself.

Regardless of the type of plan preferred, it's like any other kind of insurance. You cannot purchase it once you actually need the care.

Making the Decision for Long Term Care Insurance

Two factors that keep people from taking LTCi are a refusal to accept the possibility that they might actually need it some day and the perception of the insurance as "costly." While you may indeed never need it, if you live a long life, the odds are that you will. The cost of having it and not using it is far less than that of needing it but not having it.

The objection most people raise to purchasing LTCi is the cost. It is perceived as "expensive," and perhaps it is, especially if you wait until you are in your 70's to try to get it. However, when tempted to procrastinate, ask yourself if you could afford a bill of about $4000 per month on what you have today. When you retire, are you likely to have more disposable money or less? Wouldn't it be better to pay a premium averaging $900 to $2000 per year now rather than face the possibility of having to pay twice that every month if you need care? According to Medical News Today, "LTCi can be quite affordable, especially if you buy at a relatively young age."

Relying on Medicaid to Pay the Bill

Medicaid is a state and federal program for people who are at the poverty level, or who have certain physical conditions. According to a 2003 report by the American Council of Life Insurers, Medicaid pays only 17% of America's LTC bill. LTCi currently pays the bill for about 5% of those with coverage. A whopping 58% of the LTC bill is being paid by private individuals who are being forced to whittle away their assets to receive the care they need.

In order to qualify for Medicaid to receive care in a state-run nursing home, you have to be below a certain income level and can own only limited property. The rules vary by state, and new laws are making it increasingly difficult to qualify. No longer, for example, can you transfer your assets to your children and then enter a nursing home. Most states have a 3 to 5 year look back period with a stiff accompanying penalty for those who have attempted such a transfer.

The Medicare Misconception

Many people mistakenly believe that Medicare will pay their nursing home bill.

Medicare covers hospitals and skilled nursing facilities for a limited time period. Medicare will pay for 100 days of skilled care in a skilled nursing facility—with a co-pay for days 21 through 100—if you are admitted to the facility within a 30 days of leaving a hospital and have been hospitalized for the same condition for at least three days. A medical professional has to certify that you need this care.

Medicare pays for skilled nursing care in your home if the care is provided by a licensed home health care agency, but you must be confined to your home, under the care of a doctor, and the care must be intermittent or part-time. Medicare does not cover housekeeping services, personal care services like help with bathing, dressing and other activities, meal delivery, or full-time nursing care in the home.

Medicare Supplemental Insurance (Medigap) and Tri-Care do not cover long-term-care services either.

Determining Whether You Need LTCi

Some experts say that only middle class individuals with over $100,000 in assets need LTCi. The very rich can afford to "self insure," (but may prefer to pass their legacy on to their children and let a company pay for their care), while the very poor will be eligible for Medicaid. Those who are already on Medicaid are not eligible. Nevertheless, if you are forced to rely on Medicaid, your heirs may lose your home and all of your life insurance except for enough to pay for your funeral. To make matters worse, relying on Medicaid restricts your choices to nursing homes that accept it. Medicaid does not pay for assisted living and pays for only very limited home care. If independence, and location are important to you, talk to your family to see if resources can be pooled to provide LTCi.

If you have investments, IRA accounts, or savings, having built a small to moderate estate, you definitely stand to lose the most if you need care in your later years. Several strategies can make the cost of LTCi seem less intimidating.

Choosing a LTCi Policy

Companies that offer LTCi often have a wide variety of packages; the language is confusing, and comparison can be difficult. In spite of the convenience of the internet and mail-order, it is always best—when considering LTCi—to sit down with a licensed, reputable agent who will answer your questions and work with you to design a plan that fits your needs and your budget.

The policy should cover several levels of care, not just care in nursing homes. Benefits should increase along with the inflation rate. You should buy from a company that will stay in business for the long run and that has a solid reputation for paying claims.

Policies are priced according to your age, the length of benefit (ranging from one year to life time), and the dollar amount payable per day. According to the latest federal statistics, the average stay in a nursing home is 30 months. While five years or more is an attractive benefit, a three year policy will drastically reduce the price.

Another way to save money is to take a waiting period, usually called an "elimination period." You can think of this as a "deductible" or number of days for which you will pay for care yourself before your policy will begin to pay. Part of your plan should include a consideration of how you will pay during the elimination period.

Lack of Planning Could Mean Disaster

According to Financial Planner, Jeffrey D. Voudrie, ignoring the potential need for LTC is the wrong decision. The National Center for Health Statistics reports that currently some 1.6 million people reside in nursing homes. "That number is likely to increase significantly when the baby boomer generation reaches their senior years." Voudrie reports that many families are already finding themselves "caught in the nightmare of having to provide care that isn't covered by insurance or the government. This problem will not go away, as the government is likely to cover even less care in the future." He advises families to "take action now."
